Ghostacademy
Resources for learning through language
Presentations and academic materials from Ghostwords. More resource categories will be added here over time.
The modules are being prepared and are not yet open to the public. Here is a preview of the program.
A study guide, not an official qualification
All Ghostacademy resources are provided exclusively for educational purposes. The sworn translation program is an independent study guide to help students prepare for the official examination administered by Guatemala’s Ministry of Education (MINEDUC).
No course, module, exercise, mock examination, or self-assessment is an official examination. These resources do not grant a professional title, certification, authorization, legal powers, or permission to work as a sworn translator, and do not guarantee passing the official examination.
The program is not an official MINEDUC course and does not imply institutional endorsement. Consult the competent authority for the current examination syllabus, eligibility requirements, procedures, and official accreditation. This guide does not replace them.

Sources and references for the program
The modules adapt educational presentations by Andrea Maldonado. The list below distinguishes references cited in those materials from specific institutional resources checked during their adaptation for the website.
Examination context · Modules 0–VII
The materials cite the MINEDUC / ENCC N.° 2 sworn translation syllabus, including the 2022 document identified in Module III. This is a historical reference, not confirmation of the syllabus for a current examination. The institutional link below concerns sworn translators; it is not a link to that syllabus.
Terminology and translation theory · Modules II, III and V
References cited in the presentations: ISO 12616-1, ISO 17100, European Commission, IATE, UNTERM, Cornell Wex, Nord, Reiss and Vermeer, Vinay and Darbelnet, Nida, Leppihalme, Campos Martín, Duro, and Vázquez y del Árbol. These are general bibliographic references. The institutional terminology resources below are linked for consultation; an entry must be checked in its own context.
Language conventions and translator’s notes · Module V
FundéuRAE’s guidance on abbreviation periods and the RAE’s guidance on colons were checked when adapting the examples. APETI and BDÜ are also cited as professional-practice references in the original material.
Document format · Module IV
Spain’s Royal Decree 724/2020 and Order AUC/213/2025 were checked for the paper and electronic certification examples. These references apply to the Spanish regime and are not presented as Guatemalan requirements. Asetrad, Leon Hunter and Gramae are practice references cited in the slides, not legislation.
Guatemalan document context · Modules VI and VII
The materials cite Guatemala’s Civil Code, Notarial Code and Commercial Code, as well as RENAP, Registro Mercantil, RPI, SAT and MINEDUC. The institutional resources below were checked to distinguish identity documents and codes, commercial registration documents, and tax registration. Translation examples remain context-dependent.
Timed practice · Module VII
ATA’s examination description and guidelines were checked as a professional reference for pacing. The 45-minute and two-hour limits, exercises, and self-assessments are educational choices for this program, not official MINEDUC or ATA examination conditions. Practice documents are fictional.
A reference does not imply endorsement by its author or institution. The original slides do not specify editions or pages for every bibliographic reference. We do not claim to have independently consulted every work or the full text of every standard. Specific sources and limitations are also identified within the relevant modules.
